Although measures were implemented urgently and drastically, by July 7, the epidemic had spread to 4 hamlets, the total number of pigs destroyed had reached 115. Blue ear disease in pigs requires timely prevention measures from localities.
Head of the Department of Agriculture of Yen Thanh district - Mr. Nguyen Van Duong said: On the evening of July 5, the veterinary agency of region III received a response form with positive test results for blue ear disease in pigs in hamlet 19 (Phuc Thanh). On the morning of July 6, the district immediately directed the destruction of all sick pigs in hamlet 19. At the same time, epidemic prevention measures were also implemented urgently and drastically such as: Temporarily suspending the purchase, sale, transportation, slaughter, consumption of pigs and pork products until there is a notice of permission from the District People's Committee, closely monitoring, strictly handling violations; conducting disinfection and sterilization throughout the commune in the livestock area, entrances and exits to the epidemic area and the area where sick pigs are buried. In addition to 200 liters of chemicals provided by the province, the district and commune also allocated the budget to buy 3 tons of lime powder to handle the epidemic, disinfect the epidemic area and surrounding areas.
In addition to the staff of the Veterinary Station and the District Agriculture Department, Yen Thanh also mobilized 10 more commune veterinary officers who have experience in preventing blue ear disease to directly coordinate with Phuc Thanh commune to fight the epidemic. It can be said that the district has made efforts to promptly implement epidemic prevention and control solutions, but the epidemic prevention work is currently facing many difficulties, the disease spreads quickly. Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Sy Hung said: In the emergency meeting of the District Steering Committee on the afternoon of July 8, we agreed to resolutely and synchronously implement the measures. Requesting members of the District Steering Committee to directly inspect, urge and deploy epidemic prevention measures in the assigned communes, resolutely not allowing the epidemic to spread into the area. Instructing localities to strengthen inspection, supervision and monitoring of the epidemic situation in pig herds and daily reporting the situation to the District People's Committee for timely handling. In Phuc Thanh commune, in addition to the measures mentioned above, it is necessary to urgently organize the encirclement of the epidemic, organize the protection of areas that have not yet had the epidemic to prevent the epidemic from spreading widely, assign forces to be on duty at pig destruction points within 24 hours after the destruction. Strengthen inspection and supervision to promptly detect epidemics, guide farmers to implement measures to encircle and suppress epidemics. Phuc Thanh commune and adjacent communes including Van Thanh, Dong Thanh, Hau Thanh, Hung Thanh, Phu Thanh organize the establishment of 24/24h quarantine checkpoints to prevent the transportation of pigs and pig products in and out of the epidemic area, strengthen supervision to promptly detect and handle, implement sanitation and disinfection with chemicals and lime powder.
