Yen Thanh: Over 5,000 mosquito nets are treated with chemicals to prevent mosquito bites
(Baonghean.vn) - This time, Yen Thanh district was provided with 70 liters of chemicals to treat 5,255 mosquito nets of 2,740 households in 14 hamlets of 5 communes in areas at risk of malaria.
This is the first activity within the global project to prevent malaria in Vietnam VGF Malaria, which took place over 3 days from April 24 to 26, organized by the Yen Thanh District Health Center. In addition to treating mosquito nets, the District Health Center also provided 1,500 free mosquito nets to households in 5 communes: Tien Thanh, Lang Thanh, Phuc Thanh, Ma Thanh and Hung Thanh.

To ensure the provision of mosquito nets for the right purpose, target, and process, in the past time, Yen Thanh District Medical Center has coordinated with the Party Committee and authorities of the communes to review the subjects and households living in areas at risk of malaria in 5 communes to develop a plan to allocate the appropriate amount of chemicals.
According to experts, the mosquito nets treated with chemicals this time do not affect the health of users, have a long shelf life and can retain mosquito repellent chemicals for over 3 years without needing to be re-treated, provided that when washing the nets, they are gently crumpled and dried in the shade.
This time, Yen Thanh district was provided with 70 liters of chemicals to treat 5,255 mosquito nets of 2,740 households in 14 hamlets of 5 key communes in the district. In addition to treating mosquito nets for people, the center's staff also disseminated information to people about the causes of malaria transmission, its harmful effects and ways to prevent the disease, and improved people's knowledge to protect their personal, family and community health./.
