As one of the three communes selected as the focal point for building new rural areas in Yen Thanh district, in recent times, the Farmers' Association of Nam Thanh commune has actively directed its branches to organize propaganda on the policy of building new rural areas. Since then, the directives and resolutions of the associations at all levels have really come into life, creating trust and consensus among all members. Mr. Phan Cong Son - Tran Phu hamlet, Nam Thanh commune, expressed: Previously, he and the majority of the people were still very vague about the policy of building new rural areas, but after being propagated, everyone clearly understood the policy of the Party and the State.
It is worth noting that the movement of farmers competing in production and good business in Yen Thanh district continues to develop in both quantity and quality, attracting a large number of members to participate, thanks to which the structure of crops and livestock is shifted towards commodity production, and production linkage models are increasingly replicated. Up to now, the district has had 127 farms with all types of production and business models and is gradually forming many production linkage groups and associations with a cooperative nature in agricultural development. Typical examples are the vermicelli, cake and agricultural product processing villages in Hop Thanh commune, the rattan and bamboo weaving craft (Hop Thanh); the rattan and bamboo weaving craft for export in Lien Thanh, Khanh Thanh, Tho Thanh communes... The profession of developing forest garden economy in 19 mountainous communes; Livestock clubs bring in good income.
Farmers in Phuc Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) consolidate fields and re-plan traffic and irrigation according to new rural criteria.
Economic development has motivated people to contribute to the construction of welfare infrastructure projects to serve people's lives. In particular, in 2011, in addition to voluntarily donating land to clear nearly 130 km of district, inter-commune and inter-village roads according to new rural criteria, Yen Thanh farmers also contributed 7 billion 230 million VND to build an additional 16 km of asphalt roads and over 12 km of concrete village roads. In particular, farmers of Phuc Thanh commune contributed 3 billion VND to convert agricultural land for the second time and re-plan traffic and irrigation in the fields.
To contribute to the economic restructuring in the right direction, this year the District Farmers' Association has coordinated with vocational training centers to open 39 vocational classes for members and farmers' children. Coordinated with fertilizer production and trading companies to implement a program to lend fertilizer materials to farmers with deferred payment method, currently 22/39 communes have participated and supplied 1,574 tons of fertilizers of all kinds. At the same time, the preferential loan program at the Social Policy Bank has been effectively implemented with 121 billion VND for 216 groups with nearly 6,700 borrowers and more than 2 billion VND at the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development for 59 loan groups, contributing to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for members. In addition, the transfer of scientific and technological advances has also received attention from all levels of the association and actively mobilized farmers to consolidate land plots, implement the "4-house" linkage, creating conditions for farmers to develop production.
According to Mr. Thai Dinh Cau - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Yen Thanh district, the goal that the Farmers' Association of the district has set is to continue to direct the reorganization of production and increase farmers' income as a continuous task from now until 2015, considering this as one of the decisive factors in the success of new rural areas in a purely agricultural area.
