Request to report to the Prime Minister the incident at Hoai Duc Hospital

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan requested a report to the Prime Minister on the incident before August 20.

In response to the press reports about the “duplication” of test results at Hoai Duc General Hospital (Hanoi) causing public outrage, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan requested the Ministry of Health, Hanoi People’s Committee and Hanoi Police to report to the Prime Minister on the above incident before August 20, 2013.

On the morning of August 16, the Hanoi Department of Health and representatives of relevant departments presented certificates of merit to Ms. Hoang Thi Nguyet, Ms. Phan Thi Nam Dong and Ms. Vuong Thi Dinh. These are the people who signed the petition to the authorities to expose the terrible violations related to the 'duplication' of test results.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Nguyen Van Yen said that the actions of the above people are very welcome. It will also be a motivation for more people to bravely fight against wrongdoing.

Regarding the above incident, the police agency has initiated a case of “Abusing position and power while performing official duties at Hoai Duc District General Hospital”. The City Police initially determined that from July 2012 to May 2013, the Testing Department of Hoai Duc General Hospital issued more than 2,000 test forms to patients, including 1,149 duplicate hematology test forms.

The Hanoi People's Committee has also issued a document directing the implementation of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee's conclusion on handling violations at Hoai Duc General Hospital.

The City People's Committee assigned the Hanoi Police to proactively, urgently, and promptly conclude the investigation of the case to ensure objectivity and strictness for each subject, each group and individual with violations. Any organization or individual involved in the violations must be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law. The Hanoi Police shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Health, the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Hoai Duc District and related units to take measures to protect whistleblowers from being persecuted or retaliated against./.
