Requesting the Ministry of Public Security to find the culprit spreading the news of currency exchange

The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Public Security to track down the perpetrators spreading false rumors that Vietnam is changing its currency, affecting the investment environment.

At the end of the national conference on restructuring and reforming state-owned enterprises this afternoon, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed: “The recent news about currency exchange is false and has bad intentions, and needs to be strongly condemned to stabilize the macro-economy. We are capable of stabilizing prices and exchange rates.”

The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Public Security to track down the perpetrators spreading rumors about currency exchange.

The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies to find those spreading false rumors that affect the investment environment and cause social confusion.

"The press needs to promote this so that people can feel secure in doing business," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Previously, at the regular Government press conference at the end of last month, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Dao Minh Tu also denied the information about currency exchange.

“People should be extremely vigilant, even in the context of our stable and growing economy, all such information is disadvantageous. I reaffirm that this is fabricated information,” Mr. Tu clearly stated.

Mr. Tu added that the State Bank has absolutely no action, no activity related to currency exchange. Because the current Vietnamese currency, in terms of value, structure, and denomination, is completely suitable and meets the requirements of payment activities of the economy.
