Requesting Miss Ao Dai Vietnam to correct the contest name

On September 22, the Department of Performing Arts had a meeting with the organizing unit of the Vietnam Ao Dai Beauty Pageant, requesting to remove the name Miss World Vietnam - Road to the Crown, and to send a press release to the media to clarify this matter, and during the contest the MC will have to clearly state the name of the contest, to avoid causing misunderstandings for the audience.

Previously, on September 9, the Organizing Committee (OC) of the reality TV show Miss Ao Dai Vietnam held a press conference to announce the recruitment and broadcasting plan for the program in Ho Chi Minh City. At the press conference, the Organizing Committee arbitrarily changed the name of the program to Miss World Vietnam - Road to the Crown - Miss Ao Dai Vietnam. According to the Director of the Department of Performing Arts Nguyen Dang Chuong, the Organizing Committee violated the regulations because according to the registration documents, the original name of the contest was Miss Ao Dai Vietnam. The Department requested the Organizing Committee to immediately remove the name Miss World Vietnam - Road to the Crown.

Sharing with the press, Ms. Thuy Nga, CEO of Elite Vietnam, one of the three organizers of Miss Ao Dai Vietnam, said that next year the Organizing Committee will request to change the name of the contest. Talking to Director Nguyen Dang Chuong, he said: "The first thing is that the organizer must submit the application, the management agency will consider it. According to Decree 79, currently only 2 national beauty contests with the title of Miss are licensed each year. This year, the 2 licensed contests are Miss Vietnam and Miss Ocean."

Mr. Chuong also said that the winners of the Miss Ao Dai Vietnam contest will have the opportunity to participate in international beauty contests equally with the contestants of other beauty contests.

Miss Ao Dai Vietnam is the first beauty contest held in Vietnam in the form of a reality TV show to find potential faces and train them to become representatives of Vietnam at the world's top 3 beauty contests taking place in 2015: Miss World, Miss International and Miss Supranational. The total prize of the program is up to more than 2 billion VND.

However, what makes the public wonder is that the search for candidates for the three leading beauty contests is being conducted quite quietly in Hanoi (September 20) and Ho Chi Minh City (September 21). Sports & Culture reporters contacted to find out but were only told that the organizers are compiling information. Perhaps the audience will have to wait until September 29 when the first two episodes recording the candidate selection process to find the 18 best faces will air on VTV6. It is known that the opening live show of the program will be broadcast live at 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1 on VTV6.
