On the afternoon of May 24, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to a reporter's question asking about Vietnam's reaction to China's recent arrest of two fishing boats and 14 fishermen from Quang Ngai province who were fishing in the Hoang Sa waters, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Luong Thanh Nghi said:
"On May 21, 2012, China announced that on May 16, 2012, its fisheries agency had arrested two fishing vessels QNg50003TS and QNg55003TS and 14 Vietnamese fishermen in the Hoang Sa archipelago. At 1:00 p.m. on May 21, 2012, China released the QNg 50003TS and 14 fishermen, confiscated the QNg 55003TS, all seafood and fishing gear of the two vessels.
