Demanding China to stop violating Vietnam's sovereignty over sea and islands
On the afternoon of October 11, Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi spoke out to demand that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty and not have any more illegal activities that seriously violate Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
On the afternoon of October 11, at a regular press conference, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Luong Thanh Nghi answered questions about China's recent activities seriously violating Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi asked China to stop violating Vietnam's sovereignty.
Accordingly, after a series of illegal activities aimed at building and developing the so-called "Sansha City", on October 1, 2012, China held a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate China's National Day on Phu Lam Island, part of the Hoang Sa archipelago; on October 3, 2012, the Chinese South Sea Fleet held an emergency combat exercise in the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago; on October 8, 2012, China established the Sansha City Meteorological Office.
Previously, on September 23, 2012, Chinese press reported that China would use drones to increase surveillance of sea areas, including the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.
Responding to Vietnam's reaction to China's recent actions that seriously violate Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "The above-mentioned activities of China have seriously violated Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, violated international law, violated the Agreement on basic principles for resolving maritime issues between Vietnam and China signed in October 2011, and gone against the spirit of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) signed in 2002 between ASEAN and China, making the situation in the East Sea more complicated."
Mr. Luong Thanh Nghi affirmed that China's actions are completely worthless.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized: "Vietnam demands that China respect Vietnam's sovereignty, not engage in similar illegal activities, make practical contributions to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and China, and maintain peace and stability in the East Sea."
