To minimize the risk of developing cancer, the easiest thing to do is simply to add certain foods to your daily diet.

Cancer, with its more than 100 different types, threatens millions of people worldwide. However, to date, medicine has yet to find a cure for this disease, while existing medical treatments have serious side effects.

Therefore, to minimize the risk of illness, prevention remains the most important factor. You can easily do this by simply adding the following foods to your daily diet.

1. Tuberous pepper (long pepper, seven-leaf pepper, heart-shaped leaf pepper)

American scientists have discovered that pepper contains a chemical called piperlongumine (PL) which has anti-cancer properties. This substance can fight many types of cancer, including prostate, breast, lung, colon, lymphoma, leukemia, primary brain, and stomach cancer.

Long pepper is commonly used in India as a spice, believed to aid in cell, organ, and gene regeneration. In Vietnam, this spice is known by various names such as long pepper, seven-leaf pepper, heart-shaped leaf pepper, etc.

2. Apples

Apples contain quercetin, epicatechin, anthocyanins, and triterpenoids, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help reduce the risk of cancer, especially colorectal cancer.

Apple peel is the most nutritious part, containing up to 80% quercetin. Apples can also help fight lung, breast, and stomach cancer.

3. Blueberries

Blueberries possess strong antioxidant properties due to the presence of phytochemicals and flavonoids such as anthocyanins, ellagic acid, and urolithin. These compounds can reduce DNA damage caused by cancer-causing free radicals, while also inhibiting the growth and stimulating the self-destruction of oral, breast, and colon cancer cells.

4. Broccoli, cabbage, kale, cauliflower

The glucosinolates in these vegetables convert into isothiocyanates and indoles when consumed, reducing inflammation that can lead to cancer. Beta-carotene in these foods also helps cells communicate and regulates normal cell growth.

5. Cherries

Sweet or sour cherries both contain fiber, vitamin C, and potassium. The anthocyanins that give them their red color have antioxidant properties.

6. Cranberries

Rich in fiber and vitamin C, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, ursolic acid, benzoic acid, and hydroxycinnamic acid possess antioxidant properties. Proanthocyanidins and ursolic acid inhibit growth and destroy cells in some types of cancer.

7. Grapefruit

Grapefruit contains naringenin and flavonoids such as limonin, limonoids, beta-carotene, and lycopene, which help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

8. Green tea

Both green and black tea contain many beneficial substances such as polyphenols and flavonoids, which are antioxidants.

Catechins in tea have strong anti-cancer properties, with green tea containing three times more catechins than black tea. Green tea can slow down or completely prevent cancer development in the colon, liver, breast and prostate, lungs, skin, and digestive system.

9. Pumpkin

It contains alpha and beta carotene, which are converted into vitamin A in the body. The yellow pigments lutein and zeaxanthin help filter out strong ultraviolet rays that harm the eyes and retina.

Studies show that eating pumpkin regularly may reduce the risk of skin cancer.

10. Walnuts

The anti-cancer compounds in walnuts include elligtannins, gamma-tocopherol, alpha-linolenic acid, phytosterols, and melatonin.

Studies show that regularly eating these nuts helps prevent breast, colon, and prostate cancer, and also reduces DNA damage in general.
