100 'speed freaks' gather to race on National Highway 1A
About 100 young people riding motorbikes without license plates gathered on National Highway 1A in the middle of the night and were surrounded and arrested by the police.
The group of racers, aged 15 to 22, rode motorbikes, revved their engines, and swerved on National Highway 1A, through Than Cuu Nghia commune (Chau Thanh), in the early morning of April 16.

When they discovered the police were surrounding them, the group of "speed demons" sped away into the alleys along the highway. The police seized 22 motorbikes, many of which had been modified, had their structures changed, and had no license plates, and brought 23 "speed demons" to the police station for questioning.
During the time of social distancing to prevent and combat the Covid-19 epidemic, many groups of young people still gather and race despite warnings.

Nearly a month ago, on National Highway 1A, through Tan Huong commune (Chau Thanh), 60 men and women were racing, some of them using stimulants and alcohol, and were also arrested.
Since the beginning of the year, Tien Giang police have discovered more than 200 cases of illegal racing, dispersing more than 30 groups gathering on the streets at night, causing disorder and traffic safety.
