121 students receive "Support to school" scholarships

(Baonghean.vn) - On October 16, Ho Chi Minh City Youth Newspaper in collaboration with the Provincial Youth Union, Department of Education and Training of 4 North Central provinces organized the "Support to School" scholarship award ceremony.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son awarded "Tiep suc den truong" scholarships to poor students who overcome difficulties.

This is the 13th year that the “Tiep suc den truong” scholarship has been awarded to new students in difficult circumstances. In 2015 alone, the program awarded 121 scholarships worth a total of VND847 million to students from four North Central provinces: Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, and Quang Binh. Each scholarship worth VND7 million was drawn from the sponsorship of the “Tiep suc den truong” fundraising golf tournament co-organized by Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, VTV, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and Long Thanh Golf Company.

Nghe An province has 35 students receiving scholarships, many of whom, despite their extremely difficult circumstances and poor families, still excelled and achieved high scores and were admitted to many of the country's top universities. They are Nguyen Nhu Hau, hamlet 5, Thanh Van commune, Thanh Chuong district, who scored 28.75 points to enter Hanoi Medical University, Ngo Van Hiep, hamlet 3, Thanh Van commune, Thanh Chuong district, who scored 27 points to enter Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Nguyen Thi Huong Giang (Le Loi ward, Vinh city), Dang Thi Huyen Trang (Nghi Lien commune, Vinh city) who are orphans but still passed the entrance exam to Vinh University...

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, highly appreciated the efforts, endeavors, heart and responsibility of Tuoi Tre newspaper for poor students in recent years. He also hoped that with the support and help of benefactors, students would strive to rise up and establish their careers.

The 2015 “Supporting students to school” scholarship was awarded to 1,500 new students in 63 provinces and cities nationwide with a total budget of more than 10 billion VND. The scholarship is a timely source of encouragement, helping new students have more motivation to overcome difficulties, strive to practice, mature in life, and become useful people for society.
