143 works entered the final round of the 10th National Press Awards
Of the 1,660 entries to the 10th National Press Awards 2015, 143 made it to the final round. Of these, the number of entries on sea and island sovereignty was quite large and of good quality.
The Final Jury of the 10th National Press Awards 2015 will meet on June 3-4, 2016 in Hanoi.
Attending the opening ceremony on the morning of June 3 were Party Central Committee member, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan; Party Central Committee member, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Mr. Thuan Huu, and 41 members of the Final Jury.

In his opening speech, Mr. Thuan Huu, Chairman of the Final Jury, said: This year, there are 1,660 works participating in the National Press Award, nearly 200 works higher than the total of 1,468 works participating last year.
“There are quite a lot of works written about sovereignty over seas and islands, with good quality. The works all closely follow the country's political tasks, strongly reflect the issues of national security and defense, the fight against corruption and negativity, introduce new factors, good people and good deeds, the issue of economic development associated with environmental protection, towards the ASEAN community, joining the TPP... Many works have good discovery, are professionally and methodically expressed, especially on television and in print media,” said Mr. Thuan Huu.
According to Mr. Thuan Huu, after the preliminary round, 143 works were entered into the final round. These are works that honestly, comprehensively and objectively reflect the situation of the country. Many works have had a positive social impact and have been accepted and resolved by the authorities.

Mr. Mai Duc Loc, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Preliminary Council added: This is the season with the largest number of works and participating units ever. As of March 31, 2016, the Secretariat has received 1,660 works from 169 units and individuals. On April 19, the Preliminary Council held its first meeting with 60 members in 10 sub-committees to judge 11 categories of awards.
“Of the 1,660 entries, the Preliminary Council judged two rounds in accordance with the regulations and unanimously selected 143 entries for the final round. The entries for the final round are all exemplary, discovery-based, deeply reflecting journalistic and social life, with good public opinion orientation, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland,” said Mr. Mai Duc Loc.
However, the Chairman of the Preliminary Council also emphasized some points to note such as: There are still some local associations sending the wrong genre, sending works that violate the rules; some series of articles, collections of articles are too long,... At the same time, the Final Council is requested not to judge works whose authors have many works or send new articles that were published in early 2016...
