According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, from March 13, 2019 to June 17, in Nghe An, African swine fever occurred in 1,160 households, in 269 hamlets of 112 communes, in 18 districts, towns and cities. The total number of infected pigs destroyed was 4,201, with a total weight of over 185 tons.

Of which, 27 hamlets of 19 communes, belonging to 10 districts: Quynh Luu (3 communes), Hoang Mai (2 communes), Dien Chau (6 communes), Nghi Loc (2 communes), Do Luong, Tan Ky, Quy Hop, Thanh Chuong, Quy Chau, Anh Son have announced the end of the epidemic.

There are also 93 outbreaks that have not passed 30 days in 93 communes that have not passed 30 days, including: Quynh Luu (12 communes), Tan Ky (2 communes), Hoang Mai town (4 wards and communes), Nam Dan (1 commune), Do Luong (4 communes), Quy Hop (1 commune), Quy Chau (1 commune), Nghi Loc (12 communes), Dien Chau (13 communes), Hung Nguyen (4 communes), Ky Son (14 communes), Yen Thanh (17 communes), Vinh city (2 wards and communes), Con Cuong (1 commune), Tuong Duong (3 communes), Que Phong (2 communes).

Worryingly, recently there have been 4 wards and communes where the epidemic has recurred: Quynh Xuan Ward (Hoang Mai), Quynh My Commune (Quynh Luu), Dien Van Commune (Dien Chau) and Nghi Hung Commune (Nghi Loc).

Mr. Dang Van Minh - Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine commented: African swine fever is having very complicated developments, especially in the districts of Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Ky Son, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh. Every day, the veterinary agency receives many samples of sick pigs from the districts, many of which are positive for African swine fever.
