18 years in prison for man who took 1 million dong to transport drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - "Because of his lack of knowledge, he now has to go to jail" were the words of the father who witnessed his son being imprisoned after the trial. Surely, Gia Chong Nhia (Ky Son, Nghe An) only today realized how high the price he had to pay for his actions was.

Caught red-handed drug trafficking in a highland village
(Baonghean.vn) - Although the subject was very well disguised and moved around at noon, using professional measures, the Ky Son District Police working group successfully solved the case.
On June 24, 2020, the People's Court of Nghe An province brought the defendant Gia Chong Nhia, also known as Gia Ba Tung (born in 1975); residing in Lech Phay village, Dooc May commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, to trial for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the indictment, around the beginning of January 2020, a Laotian man who was a friend of Nhia's worker came to Nhia's house to visit. This man immediately asked for Nhia's phone number to contact him when he needed help.
A few days later, the man called Nhia and asked her to help him sell the drugs to two Khmu men, and after selling them, he would pay her 1 million VND. Seeing that the job was quite simple and the profit was high, Nhia immediately agreed.

At around 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2020, while Nhia was chopping wood near the forest, a Lao man called and came to meet Nhia. There, Nhia received two black packages and told them: "Give the small package to the two Khmu people first, and give the big package when told to" and at the same time gave Nhia the wages.
At around 7:00 a.m. on January 9, 2020, Nhia called the given phone number to contact two Khmu men. Nhia then rode his motorbike to Huoi Tu commune, Ky Son district to deliver the goods. At around 1:30 p.m. the same day, when preparing to deliver the goods, Nhia was discovered and caught red-handed by the authorities, who seized 4 blue packages containing many pink tablets from his shirt pocket.
During an emergency search of Nhia's residence, an additional black cloth bag containing 5 packages containing many pink tablets was discovered.
Through examination, the pink tablets above were all drugs with a mass of 159.61 grams.
At the trial, Nhia confessed his actions sincerely and repentantly. The defendant’s father is a meritorious person who was awarded a certificate of merit by the State. In this case, there was a Laotian who sold drugs to Nhia and two Khmu men who escaped when caught red-handed by the authorities. As their backgrounds were unknown, there was not enough evidence to verify and clarify.
Considering the above circumstances, the People's Court decided to sentence Nhi to 18 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
