19 people died, America was paralyzed by snowstorms and floods
Yesterday, New York authorities lifted the travel ban, but Washington DC and many areas in the Northeast of the country are still paralyzed by the snowstorm.
At least 19 people have died so far, mostly from accidents and hypothermia, according to the latest reports. Although the travel ban was lifted in New York at 7am yesterday, Governor Andrew Cuomo still maintains a state of emergency due to natural disasters.
Transportation services such as the subway have also begun to resume. The New York Stock Exchange announced it would reopen this morning (January 25) while John F. Kennedy International Airport said it would resume flights soon.

Meanwhile, all roads in Washington, DC are still covered with more than 45 cm of snow. City authorities have mobilized all environmental staff and called for the help of more than 4,000 volunteers to clear the central routes.
Due to the impact of a historic snowstorm, many areas in the state of New Jersey are facing severe flooding. Hundreds of people are forced to evacuate while more than 150,000 people are living in cold weather due to power outages for the past 2 days.
The National Weather Service says the storm is now moving off the coast of Long Island and Cape Cod in the Atlantic Ocean. Mild sunshine in the coming days will lift temperatures above freezing (0 degrees Celsius)./.
