The incident occurred on May 1. Two planes, an Airbus and a Boeing belonging to domestic airline Lion Air, were moving onto the runway at Soekarno-Hatta airport, near the capital Jakarta, preparing to take off when their wings collided.
The collision caused only minor damage to the two planes and no one was injured, AFP quoted Edward Sirait, Lion Air's general affairs director, as saying today.
All passengers were transferred to other planes to continue their journeys, to Bali and Sulawesi, according to Sirait. "We are waiting for the results of the investigation from the authorities."
The incident comes just a month after another collision between two planes at Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma airport. A Batik Air plane was preparing to take off when its wing struck the tail of a TransNusa plane being towed across the runway. The collision damaged parts of both planes.
