20 students won prizes at the Chemistry Olympiad 19-5 organized by Nghe An Chemistry Association
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of July 29, Nghe An Chemistry Association held the Award Ceremony of the 2nd Chemistry Olympiad 19-5 in 2023. This year's competition had the participation of more than 1,700 students from many provinces and cities across the country.
Attending the award ceremony were Dr. Do Duy Phi - President of Vietnam Chemistry Association, Associate Professor, Dr. Cao Cu Giac - Vice President of Vietnam Chemistry Teaching Association, President of Nghe An Chemistry Association. Also attending were Mr. Vo Van Mai - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, Associate Professor - Dr. Nguyen Hoa Du - Vice President of Vinh University Council.

The contest organized by Nghe An Chemistry Association started in May (round 1 online) and the final in July (round 2 - direct competition) is a meaningful activity to celebrate Uncle Ho's birthday in his homeland.
Nghe An Chemistry Associationwas established on January 10, 2021 with more than 500 members, including many scientists, teachers and business organizations inside and outside the province. Teaching and scientific research in Chemistry is one of the two main pillars in the development orientation of the Association.

Organizing the Chemistry Olympiad 19-5 is one of the meaningful activities of the association to promote the movement of teaching and learning chemistry in secondary and high schools. Through that, it aims to discover and honor students with talent in chemistry, create a source of nurturing chemistry students for high schools, contributing to the goal of training talents for the homeland and the country.
The purpose of the exam is also to create a Chemistry playground, promote passion for learning Chemistry for high school students, help them understand more about practical applications of Chemistry and encourage the use of English in learning Chemistry.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Cao Cu Giac - Chairman of Nghe An Chemistry Association highly appreciated this year's exam. In 2023, although the exam was only held for the second time, the scale of the exam was expanded with more than 1,700 candidates participating.
Among these, not only students in Nghe An province but the exam also attracted a large number of students from many regions across the country such as Tuyen Quang, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City... Thereby, it shows that the exam has been spread and highly appreciated for its scale, organization and quality.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee recognized the list and awarded Certificates of Merit to 20 contestants, including 2 First Prize winners, 4 Second Prize winners, 5 Third Prize winners, 6 Fourth Prize winners and 3 Promising Prize winners.
The first prize of the contest went to two contestants from Nghe An province, namely Nguyen Nguyen Hai - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, and Tran Huu Tan Dat - Dang Chanh Ky Secondary School (Nam Dan).

On this occasion, the Vietnam Chemistry Association and Nghe An Chemistry Association awarded 3 Nghe An students who won Gold and Silver Medals at the International Chemistry Olympiads.
Nghe An Chemistry Association also awarded teachers and students with 10 points in the 2023 High School Graduation Exam.


Within the framework of the program, on the morning of July 30, in Cua Lo town, the Vietnam Chemistry Teaching Association in collaboration with the Nghe An Chemistry Association co-organized the National Workshop "Teaching natural sciences and chemistry to develop students' capacity".
This year's conference was attended by experts in teaching methods of natural sciences and chemistry, who were presenters from Hanoi Pedagogical University, Vinh University, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, Thai Nguyen Pedagogical University, University of Education - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Hue University, Quy Nhon University, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University, An Giang University - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City... In addition, many graduate students and lecturers of general education from many provinces and cities across the country, along with more than 100 members of the Nghe An Chemistry Association, also participated in the conference.
The workshop is a forum to exchange research on the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program and new Textbooks, and to exchange practical experiences in teaching Chemistry and Natural Sciences to meet the goal of developing students' capacity.
