20 years in prison for man who murdered his wife out of jealousy

On March 14, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City tried and sentenced defendant To Ut Lon (50 years old, residing in Ca Mau province) to 20 years in prison for murder.

According to the indictment, To Ut Lon and Ms. Nguyen Thi Vuong (49 years old) are husband and wife, with 4 children.In early 2017, Ut Lon took his wife and children to Ho Chi Minh City to rent a house.on No Trang Long Street, Ward 13, Binh Thanh Districtlive

At about 8:00 p.m. on February 15, 2017, Ut Lon and some people organized a drinking party at the motel.

While drinking, Ut Lon had a conflict with his wife, Vuong, because Ut Lon suspected his wife of having an affair with another man.

After arguing with her husband, Mrs. Vuong left the rented room. Seeing this, Ut Lon immediately took a knife and chased after her, stabbing her in the chest. Mrs. Vuong tried to escape, but collapsed after running a short distance.

After committing the crime, Ut Lon was arrested by nearby residents and handed over to the police. As for Mrs. Vuong, although she was taken to the emergency room, she died that same evening due to severe injuries.

In court, Ut Lon said that his wife had an affair, so the couple had a conflict. During the fight, he accidentally stabbed his wife, but did not intend to take her life.

The defendant's daughter as well as witnesses confirmed that Mrs. Vuong did not have another man but that Ut Lon was just unreasonably jealous.

ConsideringDefendant Ut Lon has a good personal record, is a first-time offender, and has family contributions to the revolution... so the panel sentenced defendant Ut Lon to the above sentence.
