3 Song Lam Nghe An players say goodbye to U22 Vietnam before the U23 Southeast Asian tournament
Before the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, the Vietnam U22 team said goodbye to 8 players, including 3 players from Song Lam Nghe An.
After 10 days of training and 2 practice matches with U22 Chinese Taipei in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, coach Kim Sang-sik decided to shorten the list of the U22 Vietnam team from 36 to 28 players.
Among the 8 names that had to say goodbye to this training session, there were 3 players from Song Lam Nghe An Club: Nguyen Quang Vinh, Le Dinh Long Vu and Dinh Xuan Tien.
The fact that all three Nghe An players were not on the shortlist made many fans regretful, especially Dinh Xuan Tien, a midfielder who had played prominently for the Vietnam U23 team in recent international tournaments. Meanwhile, Nguyen Quang Vinh and Le Dinh Long Vu also played impressively with Song Lam Nghe An in the 2024/2025 V.League.

Yesterday afternoon (July 6), the group of 8 eliminated players returned to their home clubs to prepare for the new season. Although they will not continue to accompany the team in this training session, they still have many opportunities to be called up again in the near future, towards the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will continue to train in Ba Ria - Vung Tau until July 12. After that, the whole team will move to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare to fly to Indonesia on the morning of July 14, starting the journey at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Before departure, coach Kim Sang-sik will announce the official list of 23 players. The team will use the name U23 Vietnam in the tournament taking place from July 15-29.
In the group stage, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Laos (July 19) and U23 Cambodia (July 22), with the goal of continuing to successfully defend the championship after two consecutive crowns in 2022 and 2023./.
