3 years in prison for each subject in the forest destruction case in Que Phong
(Baonghean.vn) - 3 years in prison for Pham Dinh Thanh, 3 years suspended sentence for Vi Van Que, both residing in Tien Phong commune, Que Phong for the crime of "Forest destruction".
On the morning of June 8, the People's Court of Que Phong district opened a trial for the case of "Forest Destruction" for Pham Dinh Thanh, born in 1981, in village 3 and Vi Van Que, born in 1975, in Long Quang village, both in Tien Phong commune, Que Phong.
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Que Phong district, in 2004, Vi Van Que was assigned 122,451m2Forestry land in Tien Phong commune for management, protection and long-term use according to Decree 163/1999/ND-CP dated November 16, 1999 of the Government with a term of use until July 2053.

Around May 2016, due to lack of money to build a house, Que illegally transferred the entire forest area assigned to Pham Dinh Thanh for 60,000,000 VND. After receiving the transfer, although not permitted by the competent authority, around February 2017, Pham Dinh Thanh hired someone to clear the entire forest area to plant acacia.
The inspection report on illegal deforestation by the Que Phong District Forest Ranger Department and the investigation results of the Que Phong District Police Department both recorded that in the Huoi Pau forest area in sub-zone 83 and sub-zone 88 of Tien Phong commune, all forest trees were cut down on an area of 171,300 m2.2. The cut tree stumps have a diameter of 0.1 - 0.2 m and bamboo stumps. The total forest loss is 393,533 m3wood of all kinds and 72,973 bamboo trees. Of which group 3 wood is 9.25m3, group 7 wood is 164.105 m33, group 8 wood is 220.178 m3.
The Que Phong district property valuation council determined the total value of damage to be 3,168,026,000 VND.
Thus, the area of illegally cut forest was increased to 48,849 m2Compared to the forest area that Pham Dinh Thanh initially illegally transferred, it was 122,451m2, the reason is that when selling the forest, Vi Van Que also gave Thanh the forest part of Mr. Lo Van Thuan, residing in Long Quang village, Tien Phong commune.
For the above acts, the People's Court of Que Phong district decided to sentence Pham Dinh Thanh to 3 years in prison, Vi Van Que to 3 years in prison but with a suspended sentence, and fined Pham Dinh Thanh 15,000,000 VND, and Vi Van Que 2,000,000 VND.
