Mr. Nguyen Van Huong in Dien Luc hamlet, Ky Son commune, Tan Ky said: My family produces 300,000 - 400,000 acacia seedlings each year, mainly buying domestic acacia seeds and then growing them. Acacia seedlings when sold are priced at 400 VND/tree. Thanks to the acacia seedling growing business, my family has had money to build a house and make ends meet.

Mr. Huong also admitted that his family produced seedlings spontaneously, without a license, and the seedlings were brought here from other places to sell, and their origin was unknown.

At this time, people in Tan Huong and Tan Ky communes are selling trees to plant forests in the fall. Mr. Nguyen Van Quang in Quang Thanh commune, Yen Thanh came to buy seedlings and shared: We do not care about the origin of the seedlings, we buy them as long as they are cheap. If we buy them at the forestry farms, the price is over 1,000 VND/tree, but here, it is only 300 - 400 VND/tree.

According to the report of the Tan Ky District Agriculture Department, the district currently has over 400 households producing forestry seedlings, of which 20 households have licenses to produce forestry seedlings, the rest do not. The households producing seedlings are concentrated in the communes of Ky Son, Nghia Binh, Tan Huong...

Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung - Head of Tan Ky Agriculture Department said: Every year, the whole district produces over 215 million acacia seedlings, with a revenue of over 40 billion VND. Thanks to the acacia seedling nursery business, many households have escaped poverty, creating jobs for over 300 idle workers.

The current difficulty is that there are quite a few households that are producing on a small scale, spontaneously, without any licensing procedures. Meanwhile, we have only inspected large licensed establishments, and have not inspected small establishments to the point.

In the long term, the district will have a plan to mobilize households to establish specialized groups for seedling production, and guide people to complete the procedures to have enough business licenses to produce quality seedlings.
