4 elementary school students drowned while swimming in the river together

On August 12, leaders of the People's Committee of Hoai An district (Binh Dinh) and the authorities of An Hao Dong commune visited, encouraged, expressed condolences and supported the families of the four unfortunate students who drowned last night (August 11).

According to initial information, on the afternoon of August 11, 4 students (in grades 3 and 4) in Van Hoa village, An Hao Dong commune invited each other to go fishing and then went down to the river near the flood control house, next to the An Lao river flowing to Van Hoa village to bathe. By the evening of the same day, the students had not returned home, so their families organized a search and discovered the above sad incident.

Upon receiving the news, authorities and local people organized a search and recovered the bodies and handed them over to the families for funeral arrangements.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Chairman of the People's Committee of An Hao Dong commune said: "The children's families were busy with work, while the children were at home playing, unable to control themselves, so they went to the river to bathe and got into an accident. This season, the river water is shallow but the children were bathing in deep water. It is very possible that one child fell into a deep hole, the other children came to save them and then pulled each other, admitting that each other drowned."

According to Mr. Hung, the families of the four students who tragically drowned all had difficult circumstances, especially one family with only a mother and three children, without a father.
