On both sides of the road to the center of Dien Thap commune are rows of adjacent villas. |
Being a purely agricultural commune, each household has a few acres of contracted rice fields, so people have to work hard everywhere to make a living. Most of them go to collect scrap to make a living and also to serve the traditional bronze casting profession in the commune.
When they got information about low scrap prices in Laos, Dien Thap people flocked to Laos to buy and bring recycled household products to exchange and trade.
After being purchased, the scrap is transported back to the country to be sorted, recycled, and then brought back to Laos for sale. Just like that, the trucks are like shuttles running to Laos and then back to the country, bringing a considerable income to the people of Dien Thap.
Having a stable capital, since the year 2000, Dien Thap people have competed to build multi-storey houses. In just a short time, Dien Thap has a completely new face, with billion-dollar villas located close together, forming a long street along the commune center.
