5 Vietnamese people died in tragic accident in Thailand

Immediately after the incident, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand contacted the authorities of Kanchanaburi province to implement citizen protection measures and will coordinate with Vietnamese and local authorities to prepare procedures for the victims' funerals and bring the bodies back to Vietnam. The Embassy also worked with the transport company involved in the accident, requesting financial support for the victims' families.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to continue to closely monitor the case. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also requested the Ministry of Public Security to verify the identities of the victims and will immediately inform relevant localities and the victims' families to coordinate in resolving the victims' funerals.

Colonel Samran Klanma, Head of Immigration Department of Kanchanaburi Provincial Police (Thailand), confirmed the identities of the Vietnamese victims as:

- Doan Thi Bich (born in 1985, passport number: C6686337)
- Tran Van Nhat (born in 1987, passport number C6699032)
- Pham Thi Thuy Dung (born in 1997, C6723952)
- Phan Van Son (born in 1992, C6767103)
According to local media, the tragic traffic accident occurred at an intersection in Ban Muang (Kanchanaburi province), 150 km west of Bangkok.
The driver of the 16-seat CPS company vehicle who was lucky to escape death said that while he was transporting workers from the Phunamron border gate, Myanmar border, he was hit from behind by a 10-wheel truck at an intersection without traffic lights. The 16-seat vehicle carrying the workers fell into a canal after the collision.

About 100 rescue workers, drivers, police and military were at the scene searching for victims.
Thai authorities have found eight bodies, including one pregnant woman. Four others have been rescued and taken to a nearby local hospital.
Currently, Kanchanaburi Provincial Police (Thailand) are coordinating to investigate the cause of the incident.
In the latest announcement, a representative of the Thai company CPS, which employed Vietnamese workers in the accident, said that the company will initially support 200,000 baht (about 48 million VND) for each family of the victims.
After that, depending on the truck's insurance, they will pay the families of each deceased victim about 700,000 baht.
