6 people injured in bus accident
In the early morning of December 12, while driving a sleeper bus carrying dozens of passengers on National Highway 1A, the driver fell asleep, causing the bus to lose control and plunge into a deep ditch on the side of the road, killing one person and injuring five others, four of whom were in critical condition.
Initial information, at around 3:30 a.m., a Phuong Trang sleeper bus with license plate number 51B - 084.14 running the Saigon - Mui Ne route, driven by driver Tran Quoc Tai (47 years old, residing in Ward 2, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City), was traveling on National Highway 1A, from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet.

When reaching Km1744+650 (in An Vinh village, Song Phan commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province), the car is said to have lost control and crashed into a deep ditch on the side of the road, flipping over. Dozens of passengers, including many foreigners, panicked and screamed for help.

Local people quickly broke the glass doors to rescue those trapped outside, and took the injured to Ham Tan District General Hospital for emergency treatment. Ham Tan District Police, Ham Tan Traffic Police Station, and rescue forces immediately joined in rescuing the victims. A young man stuck in the car had to wait for rescue forces to cut the iron to get him out with a broken arm.

The accident resulted in the death of Ms. Nguyen Le My Duyen (22 years old, residing in Ward 7, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City). The injured driver is being treated at the hospital, and 4 seriously injured people were transferred to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment.
Ham Tan District Police are currently handling and investigating the incident. The initial cause was determined to be that driver Tai fell asleep.
