6 quintals of red sandalwood in passenger bus seized

Nearly 600 kg of red sandalwood was tightly wrapped with cotton and tape and put into a sack in the passenger compartment of a bus and was seized by Bac Giang traffic police.

On October 7, a patrol team of the Bac Giang Traffic Police Department on duty on National Highway 1A, through Kep town, Lang Giang district (Bac Giang), inspected a 16-seat passenger van driven by driver Nguyen Dinh Tho.

Upon inspection, many sacks containing 600kg of rosewood were found wrapped in cotton and tape. The driver said these were family furniture, brought back to the countryside for use.However, through the struggle, the driver confessed that the 45 pieces of wood ranging from over 1 meter to 2.5 meters long were red sandalwood with a total weight of nearly 600 kg.

Bac Giang Traffic Police Department has handed over the case to relevant authorities for handling.
