(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Provincial Police said that during the 7-day Tet holiday, traffic police detected and handled 66 cases of alcohol violations, including 4 cars and 62 motorbikes.

According to information from the Traffic Police Department of Nghe An Province, during the 7-day Tet holiday (from January 23 to January 29, or from the 29th to the 5th day of Tet), traffic safety and order in the province were stable, with no traffic jams or other unexpected incidents.

There were 4 traffic accidents in the province, killing 1 person and injuring 6 people. Compared to the same period in 2019, there were 3 fewer accidents, 3 fewer deaths, and 1 fewer injuries.

During the 7-day Tet holiday, the Traffic Police organized 369 patrols and inspections with 1,347 officers and soldiers, and made administrative records of 69 cases. Of these, 69 were car drivers (40 were passenger cars, 14 were trucks, 15 were cars), and 168 were motorbike drivers. 18 cars and 89 were detained; at the same time, 69 cases were fined, and the fines were transferred to the Treasury for collection of 47,300,000 VND.

Of these, 15 cases were speeding violations, 11 cases were not obeying traffic lights, 73 cases were not having a driver's license, 117 cases were not wearing helmets, 11 cases were not having technical safety equipment...

Regarding alcohol concentration violations, from January 23 to 29 (ie from the 29th to the 5th day of Tet), 66 cases were detected and handled, including 4 cars and 62 motorbikes. Specifically, the violations were: 4 car drivers and 32 motorbike drivers had blood levels not exceeding 0.25 milligrams/1 liter of breath; 17 motorbike drivers had blood levels exceeding 0.25 milligrams to 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath; 13 motorbike drivers had blood levels exceeding 0.4 milligrams/1 liter of breath. The total fine for alcohol concentration violations during the 7-day Tet holiday was 276,000,000 VND.

According to national statistics, during the 7-day Tet holiday, there were 198 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 133 people and injuring 174. Compared to the same period last year, traffic accidents decreased in all 3 criteria: 24 fewer cases, 7 fewer deaths, and 38 fewer injuries.

However, there are still some localities with high death tolls such as Ben Tre, Tay Ninh, Dong Nai... The causes of accidents are mainly due to road violations, speeding violations and mainly occur on national highways.

Regarding alcohol concentration violations, during the 7 days of Tet, the traffic police force nationwide checked nearly 36,000 cases and detected and handled 3,194 cases.
