7 young men who beat someone causing brain injury received 234 months in prison

(Baonghean.vn)- With two charges of "Intentionally causing injury" and "Disturbing public order", the 7 defendants were sentenced to the highest sentence of 5 years in prison and the lowest sentence of 9 months suspended sentence.

On July 27, the People's Court of Do Luong district tried the case of "Intentionally causing injury" against the defendants: Nguyen Huu Giap (born in 1994), Nam Son commune, Do Luong district; Tran Minh Khue (born in 1997), Luu Son commune, Do Luong district; Nguyen The Tuan Anh (born in 1997), Da Son commune, Do Luong district; and the crime of "Disturbing public order" against the defendants: Nguyen Huu Ty (born in 1996); Nguyen Huu Hieu (born in 1991); Pham Quang Linh (born in 1998); Nguyen Duy Thin (born in 2000), all residing in Nam Son commune, Do Luong district.

According to the indictment of the Procuracy: Nguyen Huu Ty and Pham Van Tung had a previous conflict, so at about 10:00 p.m. on February 12, 2017, Nguyen Huu Ty and the above group used bricks and stones to attack a group of friends of Mr. Pham Van Tai (Mr. Pham Van Tung's younger brother) in Hamlet 4, Nam Son Commune.

During the fight, in Tai's group of friends, Tran Van Tinh was unable to run away in time, so Khue, Giap, and Tuan Anh suddenly rushed in and punched and kicked Tinh repeatedly, causing the victim to faint, have a swollen face, and bleed from the eyes.

After committing the crime, the group of young men continued to chase Mr. Tai's group. Seeing Mr. Tai's motorbike 67 left at the scene, Ty used a bamboo stick to smash the front and rear lights of the motorbike. The group then got on the motorbike and escaped from the scene.

Tinh was taken to Do Luong District General Hospital by his family. Due to a severe brain injury, the hospital transferred him to another hospital. After a period of intensive treatment at Viet Duc Hospital, Tinh was discharged with a health assessment result of 41%.

At the end of the trial, clarifying the crimes of each defendant, the Trial Council sentenced: Nguyen Huu Giap: 60 months in prison; Tran Minh Khue: 54 months in prison; Nguyen The Tuan Anh: 48 months in prison; Nguyen Huu Ty: 27 months suspended sentence; Nguyen Huu Hieu: 18 months suspended sentence; Pham Quang Linh: 18 months suspended sentence; Nguyen Duy Thin: 9 months suspended sentence./.
