8 shocking tragedies in the past year

The perpetrators of these cases were quickly apprehended by the police and brought to justice.

1 – Massacre in Binh Phuoc: Killing 6 people to avenge love

The massacre occurred at around 6am on July 7, 2015, at the villa of Quoc Anh Wood Processing Company - located next to Highway 13 (Minh Hung Commune, Chon Thanh, Binh Phuoc). 6 people in the family of the wood workshop owner were murdered.

On July 10, 2015, the Criminal Police Department - Ministry of Public Security - and other functional forces coordinated to arrest two suspects, Nguyen Hai Duong (born in 1991), from An Giang, and Vu Van Tien (born in 1991), living in Binh Phuoc. On July 13, 2015, the Binh Phuoc provincial prosecution agency prosecuted the defendants and issued an order to temporarily detain Nguyen Hai Duong and Vu Van Tien for 4 months to investigate the two crimes of murder and robbery.

After the Binh Phuoc People's Court held the first instance trial of the "Binh Phuoc Massacre" case, the defendants Duong and Tien were sentenced to death. On June 20, 2016, the High Court in Ho Chi Minh City upheld Tien's death sentence.

2 - Tragedy in Nghe An: 4 people in one family died tragically

At the crime scene in Nghe An, the four bodies were all relatives in the same family.

The case occurred on July 2, 2015, in Ban Phong commune, Tam Hop commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An). The victims were 4 people in the family.

Upon receiving the news, local authorities and many villagers rushed to the scene. Nghe An police and Tuong Duong district police also immediately deployed forces to the area to handle the shocking massacre.

On July 19, 2015, after nearly 17 days of investigation, the Nghe An Provincial Police Department, the Criminal Police Department C45, and the DBP 551 detectives (offline detectives) executed an arrest warrant for suspect Vi Van Man to continue investigating and clarifying his involvement in the massacre of 4 members of Mr. Lo Van Tho's family. The cause of the massacre showed that due to a conflict and argument with the victim's family, the murderer borrowed a knife to cut lemons from the victim's house and then committed the crime.

3 - Massacre in Yen Bai: Killed 4 people because of land dispute

The massacre occurred at 9:00 p.m. on August 12, 2015, in the fields of Hamlet 16, Lam Giang Commune, Van Yen District (Yen Bai). Four victims were brutally murdered.

Through quick verification, it was determined that the perpetrator of the massacre in Yen Bai was Dang Van Hung (born in 1989, a resident of the same village). The initial motive for the crime was determined by the police to be that Mr. Long's family had a conflict over a field dispute with suspect Dang Van Hung, so Hung killed 4 people and then fled into the forest, carrying a gun. On August 15, Hung was arrested. Ms. Han was determined to have been forced to go with Hung and was released.

At the first instance trial on October 28, 2015, the People's Court of Yen Bai province sentenced the defendant to death for killing many people, including children, using cruel and insensitive methods.

4 - Massacre in Lao Cai: 4 family members were dumped in a ditch

The victims were identified as Ms. Tan Ta May (22 years old), Ms. May's daughter Tan Mai Phuong (2 years old), her second daughter, who was only 20 days old and had not yet been named, and her niece Tan Thuy Chi (6 years old).

The murder occurred at 9:30 p.m. on August 9, 2016, in Phin Ngan village, Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district (Lao Cai). Four victims were killed and their bodies were thrown into a ditch.

The authorities discovered four victims, including two children, Mr. Nai's wife and nephew, dead under a stream with many rocks pressing on them. The crime scene was quickly sealed off for an autopsy and to take statements from those involved. On August 10, the police arrested the perpetrator, Tan Lao Lo (24 years old), and the initial cause of the case was determined to be a robbery and murder.

5 - The tragedy of a mother killing her three children in Ha Giang

The massacre occurred on the night of August 15th and early morning of August 16th in Quang Minh village, Quang Nguyen commune, Xin Man district, Ha Giang province. Due to family conflicts, the suspect, Phan Mui May, killed her three children and then fled into the deep forest.

For more than 12 hours, under the command of Colonel Do Tien Dung, Deputy Director of Ha Giang Provincial Police, Ha Giang Provincial Police mobilized all forces to carry out professional measures, pursue, surround and capture the perpetrator on the top of a mountain thousands of meters high. By 8:00 p.m. the same day, Ha Giang Provincial Police had arrested the suspect.

Through initial investigation, suspect Phan Mui May confessed to killing her three children. The Investigation Police Department of Ha Giang Province Police is urgently investigating the above murder case.

6 - The tragedy of 4 grandmothers and grandchildren murdered in Quang Ninh

The murder occurred on the night of September 24, 2016, in Hop Thanh area, Phuong Nam ward, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province. The victims were 4 grandmothers and grandchildren who were brutally murdered.

Immediately after receiving the news, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Doc, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu Thi Thu Thuy, together with the Director of the Provincial Police Department, Head of the Provincial Police Investigation Agency, Director of the Provincial Procuracy, leaders of Uong Bi City and relevant agencies, directly went to the scene, directed the investigation into the cause of the incident, and at the same time reported to the superior authorities for instructions.

After 4 days of pursuit, suspect Doan Trung Dung was arrested in Hai Phong. The case is pending investigation and handling by the authorities.

7 - The tragedy of 3 grandmothers and grandchildren hacked to death by a female neighbor in Nam Dinh

The incident occurred at around 10am on April 11, 2015, in Hai Tan Commune, Hai Hau (Nam Dinh). The victims were 3 grandmothers and grandchildren of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom's family who were hacked to death.

The perpetrator was Mrs. Mai Thi Voc, who lived in the same village. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom said that there was no major conflict between her family and the perpetrator Mai Thi Voc.

Mrs. Voc has a husband and 4 children who are all in school. Since her mother-in-law passed away, Mrs. Voc has been acting abnormally, often cursing and yelling at her husband, children and people around her.

8 - The massacre that killed a father and son in Quang Tri

Hundreds of curious people watched the incident.

The incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. on August 7, 2015, in Block 4 (Khe Sanh Town, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri). The victims were a father and son who died with multiple stab wounds on their bodies.

More than 2 hours later, Huong Hoa District Police and Quang Tri Province Police quickly identified the suspect as Ho Chi Bao (born in 1991), from Hai Trach, Bo Trach (Quang Binh) as the perpetrator of the brutal massacre.

The cause of the massacre in Quang Tri was that the perpetrator broke into the house with the intention of stealing property. While doing so, Bao was discovered by Ms. Ty and Mr. Sat, who shouted for help and arrested him. Immediately, Bao pulled out a knife and stabbed the two people to death.
