8 candidates in Lang Son had their exam scores reduced after the review.
On the afternoon of July 21, the working group of the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son announced the preliminary conclusion after 3 days of verifying unusual exam scores in this province.
For the Literature exam, the working group evaluated 51 high-scoring exam papers at Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and several other locations. Of these, 35 were taken by independent candidates.
As a result, no test scores increased compared to the scores announced on July 11. Notably, 8 tests had their scores reduced after the review. Specifically, 4 tests were reduced by 1.25 points; 3 tests were reduced by 1.5 points; and one test was reduced by 1.75 points. The test that was reduced by 1.75 points actually only reduced by 1.25 points because it was mechanically added.
The representative of the Ministry of Education and Training did not clarify the reason why the scores of the 8 exams were reduced after the review, and at the same time requested the Department of Education and Training of Lang Son to clarify the responsibilities and review the experiences of the individuals involved.
Previously, the working group also checked all 8,877 Literature exams of Lang Son Examination Council. Among them, there was a comparison of the exam scores on the candidates' papers with the announced results. The data were all consistent, with no abnormalities.
Manually marking the test papers of the 35 candidates with the highest scoresAccording to Mr. Hong, the working group checked the signatures of the examiners, compared them with the examiners' signatures on the test bags and the signatures of these examiners on the multiple choice answer sheets of other candidates in the same room.

Mr. Hong also requested the department to announce the results of the assessment of 51 Literature exams on July 22 to quickly return the real exam scores to candidates (scores after assessment).

The head of the national high school exam steering committee of Lang Son province also confirmed that the candidates in this score sheet are all conscripted police officers, among 104 independent candidates of the police and military forces taking the exam at Chu Van An High School.
Notably, the number of scores above 8 and 9 in Literature and History subjects is unusually high. In Literature, 5 out of 35 candidates on the list scored 9 points. In addition, the total score of 3 subjects and priority points of 35 candidates on the list are all above 24 points.
Among them, the person with the highest score is 27.9 (Math 7.4, Literature 9, History 8.75, priority score 2.75). The second place candidate also has a very high score, 26.8.
Mr. Thieu affirmed that all 35 candidates had good test results and were interested in being tutored by teachers from specialized schools. They were highly determined and invested time in studying.
