97 professor and associate professor profiles must be reviewed

After reviewing under the direction of the Prime Minister, by the evening of February 28, out of 1,226 qualified profiles to be recognized as professors and associate professors (GS, PGS) in 2017, the State Council for Professor Titles temporarily retained 97 GS and PGS profiles. Of these, there were 21 profiles (2 GS and 19 PGS) from the health sector.

The GS profile of Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien alsois on the list of 97 professor and associate professor profiles that the State Council of Professors Titles temporarily left for consideration.

It is known that, previously, at the inspection of the records of the review of Professors and Associate Professors that took place on the evening of February 27, the State Council of Professors temporarily left 129 records of Professors and Associate Professors of all sectors. Of these, there were 29 records (9 Professors and 20 Associate Professors) of the Health sector.

On the afternoon of February 27, the 28-member State Council of Professors held a meeting on the results of the review of the titles of professor and associate professor (GS, PGS) in 2017.

After the meeting ended, some Council members told VOV.VN reporters that the results of the 2017 review of the titles of Professor and Associate Professor will be reported to the Prime Minister by the Minister of Education and Training, Chairman of the State Council for Professor Titles, at the Government meeting taking place on March 1, 2018. Because this review is carried out under the direction of the Prime Minister.

However, according to information from a Council of Professors, after review, a candidate for associate professor (PGS) of this council was found to lack the standards for guiding graduate students.

It is known that the candidate is currently teaching at a university in the natural sciences in Ho Chi Minh City. After discovering that the candidate does not meet the Associate Professor standards, the candidate's profile will be sent to the State Council for Professor Titles for consideration.

Previously, speaking to reporters, Professor, Doctor of Science (GS.TSKH) Vu Minh Giang, Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Council of History - Archaeology - Ethnology, said that the council had completed the review and sent a report to the Chairman of the State Council of Professors on February 20. Up to now, all council members have reaffirmed that there are no problems with the dossier.

Professor Dr. Ha Huy Khoi, Chairman of the Council of Professors of Mathematics, said that immediately after receiving instructions from the Chairman of the State Council of Professors, the Mathematics Council started reviewing on February 9.

This year, the entire review and approval process is online, very fast, convenient and meeting-free. Each council member who has reviewed any file can review their own review. At the same time, the council chairman and the permanent vice chairmen can also access all the review processes for inspection.

Professor Ha Huy Khoi also said that after reviewing, the results remained the same as the original. The number of qualified Professor and Associate Professor candidates of the Mathematics Council is often less than that of other councils.

This year, the Mathematics Council has 1 Professor and 15 Associate Professors. Notably, the quality of this year's applications is very good. This year's Professor candidates have 33 international articles in the ISI list, including articles published in top 5 and top 10 journals - the most prestigious journals. Associate Professor candidates have an average of 15.7 ISI international articles per person.

At the Council of Professors of Animal Husbandry - Veterinary Medicine - Aquaculture, the Chairman of the Council, Prof. Dr. Tu Quang Hien, also said that the review of the candidates' profiles had been completed and the results had not changed from the original. All profiles were checked and reviewed in accordance with the instructions of the State Council of Professors.

Prof. Dr. Tu Quang Hien also said that up to now, the Animal Husbandry Council has not had any complaints. The number of candidates meeting the standards for Professor and Associate Professor this year of this council is 4 Professors and 27 Associate Professors compared to 2016 which was 2 Professors and 13 Associate Professors.

Similarly, at the Council of Professors of Linguistics, the review results remained the same as the original.

Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Them, Chairman of the Council, revealed that the Council has notified all members to re-examine the documents. If necessary, it will be referred to the State Council of Professors for review.

Prof. Dr. Them said that although there were also anonymous questions via email about some cases, this council has resolved them and so far there have been no further questions or complaints. Prof. Dr. Them said that there was nothing unusual about the candidate profiles this year at the Linguistics Council. The number of qualified professors and associate professors in 2017 at the Linguistics Council also increased according to the general trend, including 1 professor and 24 associate professors, compared to 0 professors and 10 associate professors in 2016. The rate of "successful" candidates compared to the number of submitted profiles was 83%./.
