On the morning of November 6, the Hanoi People's Court opened the first instance trial of defendant Nguyen Viet Hoang (born 1991, residing in Nam Dong ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi) for the crime of Child molestation, as prescribed in points a and b, clause 2, Article 116 of the Penal Code.

According to the case file, Nguyen Viet Hoang is a person without a stable job. During his life, Hoang often went online to watch pornographic movies.

Due to the influence of "porn" movies, every morning, after taking his girlfriend to the University of Industrial Technology (Hanoi), on the way back, Hoang went to the female restroom of elementary schools, approached students to commit lewd acts.

Hoang confessed that from December 2016 to May 2017, he committed 6 cases of sexual abuse against 6 students aged 7-10 years old at schools in Hanoi.

At court, defendant Hoang confessed that he took advantage of the morning time when parents dropped their children off at school and were in a hurry to go to work, when people could easily get in and out of the elementary school, so Hoang parked his car 30 meters away from the school and walked to school, looking for an opportunity to commit the crime.

To avoid being discovered, Hoang went straight to the second and third floors of the schools and stood near the girls' restroom. When he saw any child approaching, Hoang pretended to say "I'm your father's friend", sometimes reminding the children to wash their hands before entering the classroom and then following them to the restroom.

Initially, the defendant, taking advantage of the moment when the girls were not paying attention while they were washing their hands and feet, used his hands to touch the victims' sensitive parts.

The “bluebeard” only stopped when the children were frightened, screaming, and ran out of the restroom. After that, the subject also quickly ran out the school gate to get on his motorbike and escape.

In court, Hoang stated that due to his high sexual desire, when he returned home, he continued to watch pornographic movies to satisfy his animalistic desires.

During the trial, the suspect expressed remorse and whispered that during his time in prison, he learned that he was about to become a father, so he blamed himself even more for his depraved behavior and molesting young girls.

"The defendant's actions have affected the spiritual life of the children and their families. Over the past time, the defendant has clearly realized his criminal behavior and hopes to receive forgiveness from the victims and their parents. Through this, the defendant apologizes to the children and their parents, and apologizes to his elderly mother who has to raise two younger siblings in the countryside, and now has an additional burden from the defendant" - Hoang said with tears in his eyes.

Through the case file and the public interrogation process, the panel of judges found that the defendant's actions were dangerous to society, affecting the normal psychological development of children, causing panic among parents, and causing discontent among the population, so it was necessary to isolate the defendant from social life for a period of time. The court advised the defendant to try to improve himself so that he could soon reintegrate into society.

At the end of the trial, the court of first instance sentenced defendant Nguyen Viet Hoang to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the exact crime charged./.
