Scooter battery is out of power, how to handle it?
“Dead battery” or “battery out of power” is a situation that most scooter users have encountered. However, not everyone knows how to deal with this problem, especially women.
Many users, especially women, when using scooters sometimes encounter the situation where the vehicle cannot turn on the lights, honk the horn, or even cannot start the engine. These are “symptoms” that often occur when the vehicle’s battery is dead; in other words, the battery on the vehicle is damaged or out of power. So how should this be handled?
How important is the car battery?
First of all, it is necessary to understand that the battery is the storage part for the vehicle, and at the same time provides electricity for other parts such as the horn, lighting system and especially the vehicle's starting system to operate. Therefore, when the battery runs out of power, the above parts will not be able to operate, and even with new generation scooters that are not equipped with a kick starter, the vehicle will not be able to start.

Batteries play a very important role on scooters. |
Reasons why scooter battery runs out
There are many reasons for the battery to run out on scooters. The first and most common is that the owner “stores” the vehicle for a long time without using it. It sounds absurd, but this is a reality. Because today’s vehicles are equipped with many smart electronic devices and details. Therefore, when the vehicle is not in use, some smart devices on the vehicle operate and always consume electricity. That is why in many cases, scooters that are not used for a long time will experience a dead battery.
Another very common and frequent cause of a dead battery on a vehicle is that the owner "absent-mindedly" forgets to turn off the engine. Many people think that when the vehicle does not start, other devices will not work. But this is a wrong thought. Many scooter models today are equipped with positioning lights and smart devices, so even when the vehicle stops and does not start, devices such as lights and dashboard displays still operate and consume electricity from the battery. When the habit of forgetting to turn off the engine is repeated many times, it will lead to a dead battery and the inability to start the engine.

Even when the engine is not running, the electrical equipment in the car is still working, this is a common cause of dead batteries. |
In addition, some other reasons can also cause the scooter to run out of battery such as connecting, "upgrading" additional electrical equipment on the vehicle such as high-power headlights, decorative colored lights, LED taillights, etc. These devices will consume electricity directly from the battery, causing the battery to run out of power faster.
How to deal with a dead scooter battery?
As mentioned, most new scooters today are no longer equipped with a kick starter. Therefore, in case the battery runs out, the vehicle may not start. So what should be done?
First of all, when the car shows signs of running out of battery (the key is turned on but the electronic panel does not display, the lights do not come on, etc.), the driver should not try to start it many times. This will only waste your time and make the situation worse. Instead, the first thing to do is to “rescue” the car’s battery by connecting it to the battery of another car that still has power.

The best way to fix a dead battery is to recharge it or replace it if it is degraded. |
This is considered the most feasible way that you can do yourself to jump start your car battery. However, to do this, you need to have a jumper cable ready, and you need to know where to place the battery on the car (the front of the car or under the footrest for some new cars). Then connect the wires according to the correct positive/negative poles and wait for about 5-10 minutes before restarting the engine. Note that, once you have successfully started the car, remember to keep the engine in idle mode for about 10 more minutes so that the engine can charge the battery.
In case you cannot reconnect the battery yourself to restart the vehicle, you need to move the vehicle to a repair shop or motorbike dealer so that a mechanic or technician can recharge the battery. Normally, it takes about 1 hour or longer to fully charge the battery, depending on the type of battery.
In case the battery is too degraded, or even damaged (dead battery), you need to replace it. The price of common batteries on current scooter models ranges from 300 - 500 thousand VND.
