Stealing electric bicycle while owner was bathing in river

On August 12, 2021, Nam Thanh Commune Police, Nam Dan District, said that the unit had just coordinated with Nam Dan Town Police to arrest Nguyen Van Linh (born in 1989), residing in Van An block, Nam Dan town, for the act ofTheft of property.
Previously, on August 6, 2021, Nam Thanh Commune Police received a report from Ms. Phan Thi Lan, residing in Hamlet 6, Nam Thanh Commune, Nam Dan District, about her nephew losing an electric bicycle while swimming in Thia Thia lagoon, Hamlet 5, Nam Thanh Commune, Nam Dan District.
After receiving the report, Nam Thanh Commune Police focused on reviewing and conducting an investigation to clarify the case. At 10:00 a.m. on August 9, 2021, using professional measures, the police force arrested Nguyen Van Linh, residing in Van An block, Nam Dan town.

During the investigation, Linh confessed: At noon on August 6, 2021, Linh passed by Thia Thia lagoon and saw a male student engrossed in bathing in the river, while his electric bicycle was left unlocked on the shore. Therefore, Linh stole the bicycle and sold it to a repair shop for 1.5 million VND for personal use.
Nguyen Van Linh has a criminal record for murder and was released from prison in 2015. Nam Thanh Commune Police have handed over the case to Nam Dan District Police for handling according to regulations.
Recently, due to the hot weather, many people go swimming in rivers, streams, and dams but their vehicles are left on the shore without any protection measures. This is a loophole for property theft crimes. The police force recommends that people be vigilant and remind relatives to raise awareness of property protection to avoid being taken advantage of by bad guys.
