In a small house in Hung Nguyen town, there are many certificates of merit and awards for female student Ton Nu Minh Ngoc, one of 29 outstanding students awarded the title of "5 Good Students" by Nghe An Provincial Youth Union in the 2016-2017 school year. The first impression when meeting the third-year student is that she is intelligent, gentle and funny.
Minh Ngoc said that since childhood, she was familiar with numbers and quickly loved them. From elementary school until entering Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Ngoc repeatedly demonstrated her natural talent with numbers. Partly because of her love for Math, partly because she wanted to become a teacher to impart knowledge to students, Minh Ngoc decided to take the entrance exam for the Mathematics Pedagogy major at Vinh University.
With a clear goal as soon as she entered the lecture hall, Minh Ngoc always tried her best in her subjects. Perhaps because she was so impressed by a well-behaved, intelligent but equally persistent female student, the probability and statistics teacher suggested that Minh Ngoc try to conduct a scientific research project right from the end of her first year. From here, Minh Ngoc reaped her initial successes with the dedicated help of her teachers and family.
Although only a third-year student, Minh Ngoc already has 3 research topics related to probability, including 2 school-level topics and 1 topic that won the Ministry's Encouragement Prize.
Not stopping there, the student under 21 years old was also honored to have her article published in the Saigon University Science Journal with the dedicated guidance of Dr. Duong Xuan Giap, a lecturer at Vinh University.
“Doing a research topic is not necessarily too difficult. Just like studying Math, you need to have a coherent mindset and clear ideas to gradually solve the difficult questions in the topic,” Ngoc shared.

Despite spending time on scientific research, Minh Ngoc still does not forget her study duties. Since enrolling, Minh Ngoc has been an excellent student and won many scholarships from the school. Not stopping there, the student of Mathematics Education also surpassed hundreds of students nationwide to win Second Prize in Analysis and Third Prize in Algebra in the 2017 National Student Mathematics Olympiad held in Phu Yen.
With an impressive academic and research record, Minh Ngoc was once again honored to be the only Nghe An student out of 7 students nationwide to receive the Kova award for students with excellent academic performance and scientific research achievements in early December 2017. Most recently, Minh Ngoc was honored as 1 of 29 students to receive the title of "5 Good Students" of Nghe An province.
Along with studying, Minh Ngoc also regularly participates in collective and social activities. Trusted by teachers to be the deputy class monitor, Minh Ngoc is more aware of her own responsibilities than ever. Not only does she help her classmates study by forming study groups, she also volunteers at school to guide other students with weak academic performance. In addition, during the summer, Ngoc and her friends in the department actively participate in volunteer campaigns to support exam season.
“I always tell myself to try, equip myself with skills and knowledge to be ready to welcome opportunities and face challenges ahead,” Ngoc shared. Talking about her future plans, the third-year student confided that she is trying to practice well to become a good teacher, able to impart knowledge and inspiration to many students.
