During a meeting with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault, Mr. Johnson discussed the bilateral cooperation agreement between the two countries and the fight against extremism that is raging around the world.

Mr Johnson surprised local media by speaking fluent French.

Referring to the recent terrorist attacks in France, Mr. Johnson affirmed that Britain will always stand with France in this fight.

As for radical Islam, the British Foreign Secretary said, "The threats facing Britain and France are the same."

In a joint statement on July 28, both British and French ministers condemned the situation in Syria and the fighting in Aleppo.

Mr Johnson's visit to France was somewhat affected by comments from Mr Ayrault in early July 2016.

Accordingly, Mr. Ayrault said that the new British Foreign Secretary had "lieved to the people many times" in his campaign to call for support for Britain to leave the EU./.
