Affected by Covid-19, Nghe An mineral exports decreased by 15 million USD
(Baonghean.vn) - The mineral sector is the main export group of Nghe An, however, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, export turnover has decreased by over 15 million USD.
Unlike the bustling atmosphere of cars coming in and out carrying white marble for export, the quarry and processing workshop of Toan Thang Company Limited (Minh Hop Commune, Quy Hop) is now quiet. A representative of this unit said: Stone products have long been mainly exported to the Chinese market, with many stone products for cladding, but due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, since the beginning of 2020, the unit has reduced export output by over 70%, had to find a domestic market to sell, and operate at a low level to support workers.
Due to difficulties in consumption, many stone mining and processing facilities have inventory and workers have to quit their jobs. Not to mention, some tin mining and processing enterprises in Quy Hop district have to operate at a low level due to difficulties in export.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hue - Head of the Tax Department of Phu Quy I area said: For a long time, Quy Hop district has had about 20 enterprises exporting mineral products to other countries. Due to the impact of the epidemic, most of the units had to stop operating, up to now, the whole district has only 4 mineral exporting enterprises.
However, businesses are operating at a standstill, with export revenue down over 70%. Some businesses are currently exporting a small number of previously signed contracts to India, Hong Kong, etc. There are almost no new export orders.
In the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, thousands of workers in the processing and mineral sectors in the province have had to quit their jobs, some are unemployed or have switched to other jobs.
According to the report of Nghe An Customs Department: Mineral export turnover from the beginning of 2020 to date has reached 26.07 million USD, down more than 15 million USD compared to the same period in 2019 (equivalent to a decrease of nearly 40%). Mineral export items in Nghe An province are mainly stones of all kinds, originating from Quy Hop and Tan Ky districts. Enterprises mainly produce and process products from superfine white stone powder, sawn stone for cladding... Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the consumption market in countries such as China, Iran, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Middle Eastern countries has decreased.

To contribute to solving difficulties for mineral exporting enterprises, relevant sectors need to continue to reform and simplify administrative procedures, promote customs modernization, apply information technology to professional stages: management, supervision of imported and exported goods, tax collection, etc. to create favorable conditions for enterprises. Actively support and remove obstacles for import and export enterprises in customs clearance of goods, contributing to the recovery of production, business, and export, prioritizing the implementation of quick procedures to reduce time and costs for enterprises./.
