According to Sputniknews, local media on October 14 quoted sources saying that British intelligence officials concluded that not Russia, but Iran was behind a recent cyber attack targeting the country's Parliament.

In June, the British Parliament suffered an unprecedented cyber attack that lasted more than 12 hours and affected about 9,000 email accounts, including those of MPs and British Prime Minister Theresa May.

According to British government sources, intelligence officials initially suspected Russia of causing the attack, but they have now concluded that the attack originated from Iran.

The motive for the attack is unclear, but experts say Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) may have carried out the attack to undermine the nuclear deal because the IRGC wants Tehran to continue its weapons program.

The news comes amid growing concerns that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program could collapse as US President Donald Trump plans to withdraw from the deal./.
