'Magic' using tape to steal phone card codes

6 young men used tape to get the phone card number to use, then "magically" turned the card into like new.

Cam Xuyen District Police (Ha Tinh) has just arrested Do Dinh Phi (25 years old), Le Van Quyen (30 years old), Le Xuan Vu (24 years old), Do Dinh Quang (20 years old), Dang Dinh Huy (29 years old), Doi Van Vinh (33 years old, all residing in Thanh Hoa) to investigate the crime of Fraudulent appropriation of property.

Authorities allege that Phi’s group bought a large number of phone scratch cards from stores in Thanh Hoa, using tape to cover the silver layer covering the code on the scratch cards. Using a simple trick, they got the code, then re-pasted it like new, making it difficult to detect that the cards had been used with the naked eye.

This group drove to grocery stores in Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh), asked to buy a large amount of scratch cards, intentionally using money with torn corners to make transactions. The store owner counted and canceled the transaction because the money was torn, this group took advantage of the "rumor" to swap it for new cards kept in the store.

Authorities accused Phi and his accomplices of successfully carrying out 21 fraud cases, appropriating more than 30 million VND.

This group confessed to having previously carried out many cases with similar methods in Nghe An and Quang Binh./.
