Audi recalls Q3 cars in Vietnam market due to brake light error
Audi Vietnam has just issued a notice, announcing the recall of a series of Audi Q3 cars that may have technical errors, manufactured from June 2014 to November 2016 and officially distributed in the Vietnamese market. Accordingly, Audi Vietnam's authorized dealers and service stations will contact each car owner directly to invite them to check and update the software of the affected cars.
Engineers of the product quality monitoring program at AUDI AG have just discovered that some AUDI Q3 vehicles (using 2.0 TFSI engine), manufactured from June 2014 to November 2016 and officially distributed in the Vietnamese market, may have a defect in the rear brake lights not being activated. Specifically, these defects are in some cases of using the emergency braking method via the electromechanical button.

During the product upgrade, the control system that activates the emergency brake light when using the electromechanical handbrake is integrated into a module, and in some cases the signal is not transmitted through the communication port of the common control system to activate the emergency brake light. This phenomenon only occurs when using the electromechanical handbrake for emergency braking, other operations of the braking system and brake lights are not affected and still operate normally.
For safety reasons, Audi AG requires all official importers to check the list of related vehicles and conduct a recall at Audi Dealerships worldwide. Audi Vietnam also began recalling the above mentioned vehicle model to check and update the control software with a total time of 30 minutes for each vehicle.
Although there have been no reports of any Audi Q3 problems occurring in Vietnam, Audi Vietnam has confirmed that 33 Audi Q3s in Vietnam are affected and need to be checked and updated. This software check and update is completely free.
For vehicles that are not officially distributed but are still subject to recall, this is basically the responsibility of the importers. However, Audi Vietnam said that if customers bring their vehicles to Audi Vietnam service stations, they will also be supported to contact AUDI AG and perform inspection and repair when approved by Audi AG (this applies to both vehicles imported in the form of moving assets or vehicles with diplomatic license plates).
