According to Article 17 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, drivers of cars, tractors and similar vehicles who violate environmental protection regulations while participating in traffic will be subject to specific penalties.
Specifically, drivers will be fined from VND500,000 to VND1,000,000 if they operate a vehicle that does not meet hygiene requirements when traveling in urban areas.

In case of transporting soil, rock, waste, or loose goods without a cover or tarpaulin or having one but still letting it fall; causing goods to fall on the road; transporting goods or waste so that water flows onto the road surface causing traffic insecurity; or dragging mud, soil, sand, raw materials, materials or waste onto the road causing traffic insecurity, a fine of from VND 2,000,000 to VND 4,000,000 will be imposed.
Drivers who illegally dump garbage, soil, sand, rocks, materials or waste within the land area reserved for roads outside urban areas will be fined from VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000. For similar acts occurring on streets, the fine is higher, from VND 10,000,000 to VND 15,000,000.
In addition to the fine, drivers who commit violations in Clauses 3 and 4 of Article 17 will also have 2 points deducted from their driving license according to regulations on point management of driving licenses.
Therefore, traffic participants need to pay special attention to environmental protection regulations when driving, to avoid being fined and contribute to preserving the landscape and a safe and clean traffic environment.
