In an interview recorded on October 11, broadcast yesterday on CNN, former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton raised the question "why the US wants two nuclear challenges in Iran and North Korea at the same time", according to Politico.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Iran nuclear deal was "extremely dangerous." "It basically shows that American rhetoric is not good," she said, adding that withdrawing from an international agreement would make it more difficult for the United States in the future to convince other countries to agree to any deals with Washington.

Negotiations for the deal began when Clinton was secretary of state and concluded during President Barack Obama’s second term, when John Kerry headed the State Department. The deal was designed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. Trump had opposed the deal during his presidential campaign, arguing that it only benefited Iran.

Speaking on CNN's "State of the Union" program on October 15, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the problem with the deal lies in the way Iran implements it. According to him, Tehran is actually waiting for the deal to expire to do something instead of complying with it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on the other hand, backed the US President on the Iran issue. "We cannot allow a country with an economy 30 times larger than North Korea to have a nuclear arsenal," Netanyahu told CBS. "It was a courageous decision and I think it was the right decision for the world."

In an interview with CNN, Mrs. Clinton also said that Mr. Trump's participation in a war of words with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un only aggravated the situation and could make US allies worry about the risk of a nuclear race in East Asia.

Tensions between the US and North Korea have recently increased not only because Pyongyang continues to test nuclear weapons and missiles, but also because of harsh criticism and threats between the two countries' leaders.

In his first speech to the United Nations, Mr. Trump threatened to completely destroy North Korea, calling its leader "rocket man." In response, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un used words such as "inappropriate," "thug" and "moron" to describe Mr. Trump.
