Three contestants withdraw from Miss Vietnam contest

Three contestants Pham Chau Thuong Vi (Kien Giang), Tran Ngo Thu Thao (Tien Giang), and Nguyen Thi Nhu Thuy (Da Nang) withdrew from the Miss Vietnam 2016 contest right before the final night.

On the afternoon of August 20, a representative of the Organizing Committee of Miss Vietnam 2016 said that after working with the Organizing Committee, contestants Pham Chau Thuong Vi (Kien Giang), Tran Ngo Thu Thao (Tien Giang), and Nguyen Thi Nhu Thuy (Da Nang) asked to withdraw from the final round of Miss Vietnam 2016.

The three contestants gave different personal reasons for withdrawing, such as not being suitable, not meeting the contest rules and regulations, health reasons, etc. The Organizing Committee agreed to let these contestants withdraw from the contest.

Previously, on August 14, the organizing committee of the Miss Vietnam 2016 pageant agreed to allow contestant Le Tran Ngoc Tran to request permission to stop competing and withdraw from the final round on the grounds that she had "illegally competed" in the Miss Vietnam World 2014 pageant.

In addition, two contestants were eliminated from the final round by the Miss Vietnam 2016 organizing committee for violating the contest rules, namely Nguyen Thi Thanh and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van, for not meeting the requirement of “natural beauty” stated in the rules. Nguyen Thi Thanh had eight porcelain teeth made, her teeth were artificially made, thus violating the requirement of “natural beauty”.

The Miss Vietnam pageant's organizing committee later held a press conference announcing that it had coordinated with the police to continue clarifying suspicious points in Nguyen Thi Thanh's profile, as well as requesting the police to clarify the involvement of a number of other individuals in this case in order to take appropriate measures.

With the latest 3 contestants withdrawing from the final round, the final ranking night of Miss Vietnam 2016 taking place on the evening of August 28 at Phu Tho Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City will have 30 contestants competing for the prize.
