Pedagogy and Engineering sectors "reign" thanks to many support policies
Instead of following the crowd, trends, and positive signals in this year's university admissions season, many candidates have chosen careers that are close to the labor market. Among them, Pedagogy and engineering, and artificial intelligence applications are quite popular.
Many good students choose Pedagogy
Phan Dai Hoang is a student of class 12A1 - specializing in Mathematics at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. In addition to the First Prize in the Provincial Excellent Student Competition, Hoang also won the Encouragement Prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Mathematics in grade 12. With many outstanding achievements and many opportunities to be admitted to university, Hoang decided to choose the Mathematics Pedagogy major at the Pedagogical School -Vinh University.
Before that, Hoang said, he had thought about the information technology industry because it was quite a "hot" industry. But looking back at his own abilities and thinking carefully about his interests and passions, he chose Pedagogy and did not hesitate to choose this as his first choice. "Before me, there were quite a few seniors who majored in Mathematics who chose Pedagogy and had many job opportunities after graduation, so I thought this career had a great future. Moreover, during my studies, I can also work part-time with my own job, to both gain experience and improve my qualifications" - Hoang added.

This morning (September 8), the candidates who were admitted to Vinh University officially enrolled. According to the school's summary, in the list of 17 candidates admitted with a maximum score of 30 points (including bonus points), 16 candidates registered for Pedagogy majors, focusing on majors such as Literature Pedagogy, History - Geography Pedagogy, and Mathematics Pedagogy. The number of candidates who scored over 29 points is not rare.
Admitted to the Literature Pedagogy major with 30 points, including an encouragement point for winning the second prize in the provincial Literature competition, new student Ho Thi Ngoc Ha (formerly a 12th grader at Kim Lien High School) said: My family has a tradition of the Pedagogical profession, so this is the major I have dreamed of for many years. In fact, this year I have registered about 20 wishes and more than half are Pedagogical majors and I am very happy to have fulfilled my dream...

Ngoc Ha also shared that her parents are just ordinary civil servants, so choosing Pedagogy and studying near home will help her reduce the financial burden on her family: We are exempted from tuition fees and I have also registered to receive support under Decree 116, each month receiving a subsidy of more than 3 million VND. Thus, I have reduced half compared to other majors. In addition, I can also work as a tutor to earn more income.
For the past 5 years, especially after Decree 116 on tuition and living expenses support policies for pedagogical students took effect, the number of candidates registering for the Pedagogical major has increased day by day.
Therefore, the quality of enrollment has also been greatly improved, continuously in recent years, Pedagogy is the major with the highest standard score of Vinh University.
According to statistics, most students have registered to enjoy the policy under Decree 116 and they all determined to stick with the profession for a long time.

Present at the school's admission ceremony, the number of admitted students coming to complete admission procedures was quite high. Bui Huu Duc - a former student of class 12D2 - Huynh Thuc Khang High School who has just enrolled in the Automation major said: I study block A so I have researched quite thoroughly about technical majors and prioritized choosing the automation major, because this is a major with high demand for human resources in the 4.0 era, with open job opportunities in many different fields. Besides, there are currently many industrial parks in the province, so I hope that after graduation, I can easily find a job near my home.
Talking about the current career choice trend, Dr. Vo Tien Trung - Head of Training Department - Vinh University of Technical Education said: In recent years, due to the increasing number of FDI enterprises investing in Nghe An, a large number of high-quality human resources are needed, especially in fields related to engineering, science and technology, and technology 4.0.
To meet the requirements of labor use, the school has also promoted the application of information technology in teaching and innovation in teaching and learning.
We focus on innovating training programs towards output standards associated with digital competencies, soft skills and innovative thinking.
At the same time, the school strongly deploys digital learning materials, online training combined with direct training to build a "digital university" following the general trend.

Regarding these fields of study, this year, many policies related to training and preparing human resources for high-tech fields have been issued. In addition, there will continue to be preferential policies for students in the fields of basic science, key engineering, and strategic technology.

Specifically, on August 28, 2025, the Government issued Decision 29/2025/QD-TTg on credit for students, master's students, and biological researchers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Accordingly, students studying in these fields who meet the conditions will be given loans to support tuition fees, living expenses, and other study expenses for the remaining duration of the course with a maximum of VND 5 million/month.
This is considered a breakthrough, comprehensive and humane policy of the Party and State, contributing to improving the quality of human resources to realize the aspiration of developing a strong and prosperous country in the 4.0 era. At the same time, it is a strong commitment of the Party and State to accompany the young generation - those who will lead Vietnam to a digital, innovative and creative future.
