(Baonghean.vn) - Despite having flooded houses and lost property due to the flood, two doctors from Ky Son District Medical Center actively took on the task of being the "contact point", grasping the health status of the people to provide timely support.

Doctor Sam Van Hai - Director of Ky Son District Medical Center said: During the recent flood, 13 families of staff of the District Medical Center had their houses flooded, damaged, and their properties swept away by floodwaters. In addition to rescuing and supporting these staff families after the flood, to ensure the health of people in the flooded areas, on the morning of October 2, the District Medical Center established a working group of 5 doctors and nurses to go to Hoa Son and Son Ha villages of Ta Ca commune - areas directly affected by the flood to support people in cleaning their houses, building temporary bridges..., and at the same time grasp the medical problems that people encounter.

“For people in mountainous areas, common medical problems after floods include: accidents and injuries during evacuation and moving of belongings; fever due to water immersion, combined with erratic weather; abdominal pain due to unsafe environment; environment and water sources affected by dead animals in floods...

A day later, the leaders of the District Health Center and another working group brought medical equipment, medicine, etc. to examine and provide medicine to the people. The doctors and nurses examined and provided medicine to more than 30 people, with symptoms mainly being colds, fever, cough, stomachache, etc.

In addition, medical staff also provided advice and distributed leaflets with the Center's hotline number to residents so that they could receive timely support and medical care if health problems arose.

“In the two villages of Hoa Son and Son Ha of Ta Ca commune, there are two doctors of the Center, Vu Ba Phia (Son Ha village) of the Internal Medicine Department and Vi Thi Hai (Hoa Son village) of the Examination Department, both of whose houses were flooded and whose properties were lost due to the flood. However, both doctors actively took on the task of being the “contact point”, grasping the health situation of the people, and if there was any case of illness, they would report to the Center for timely rescue. Up to now, the two doctors have completed the assigned tasks very well,” Dr. Hai shared.

In addition, Ky Son District Medical Center also disinfected the premises and headquarters of a number of agencies and units in Muong Xen town after these places had been cleared of mud.

On October 4, a working group of the Provincial Center for Disease Control, consisting of 5 doctors, went to Ky Son district, coordinated with the District Health Center to go to Hoa Son and Son Ha villages (Ta Ca commune) to spray disinfectants in houses that had been cleared of mud; continued to examine and provide medicine to people in the 2 villages.

It is expected that on October 7, the working group of the Provincial General Hospital, including 13 doctors, 8 nurses and 1 pharmacist, will coordinate with the Ky Son District Medical Center to carry out medical support activities for the flooded areas. The group will set up 5 medical examination and treatment points with 13 tables to examine, treat and provide free medicine to all people in Block 1 of Muong Xen town and villages in Ta Ca commune that were severely affected by flash floods.
