The doctor endured labor pains to deliver a baby.

Amanda is an obstetrician at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. On July 23, while she was in her labor room, she heard another woman screaming in labor.

Amanda recalled: "At that time, I was so anxious for the other woman, I couldn't wait any longer, so I put on a gown and put on a pair of boots over my shoes to avoid getting amniotic fluid and blood on me during the delivery." After that, Amanda went to the other woman's room and realized that she had performed a prenatal check-up on her a week before.

The woman, Halliday Johnson, was fully dilated while the doctor on duty was absent. Halliday went into labor early, with the umbilical cord wrapped around the baby's neck. Halliday was worried when she learned that the doctor on duty would not be there in time to deliver her baby, but the presence of Dr. Amanda helped calm her down and she was assured of getting on the delivery table.

Halliday gave birth to a healthy baby girl on the evening of July 23. Dr. Amanda delivered Halliday and then returned to her bedside and gave birth to a baby girl that same night.

After giving birth, Amanda said that pregnancy did not make it difficult for her to do her job as a midwife. "Throughout my pregnancy, I always felt like my baby was my colleague. He always accompanied me during my deliveries, right up until the moment he was about to be born," Amanda said.

Dr. Amanda was awarded a trophy by the hospital in early August for her brave actions.
