Secretariat: Ensuring food safety is an urgent task

Vietnam will strengthen and expand international cooperation, first of all with neighboring countries to ensure food safety.

The Central Party Secretariat has just concluded on strengthening the Party's leadership over food safety issues in the new situation.

Accordingly, Vietnam strives to soon achieve the goal of all food produced, traded, circulated and consumed in the territory being safe.

The Secretariat stated that ensuring food safety is a top priority, both urgent and long-term; and is an annual socio-economic development target at all levels.

The heads of Party committees and authorities at all levels are responsible for directing this field in their localities; at the same time, they should strongly promote the supervisory role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, mass organizations at all levels and the media to ensure food safety at all stages from production, business, processing to consumption.

The Secretariat also set out the task of strengthening and expanding international cooperation, first of all with neighboring countries to ensure food safety; strictly controlling plant protection chemicals, banned substances in food production and food imported into Vietnam, especially through unofficial channels.
