Previously, at 9:30 a.m. on December 16, the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security (C67) received a report that two cars were transporting a "huge" amount of drugs on National Highway 1B, in the direction from Lang Son to Hanoi.

C67 directed Department 10, Highway Traffic Police Team No. 2 to quickly deploy forces, vehicles, and support tools, and at the same time, requested Thai Nguyen Provincial Police to coordinate in developing an arrest plan.

At 1:15 p.m. the same day, at km 128+800 National Highway 1B, in Cay Bang hamlet, La Hien commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen, the working group discovered 2 cars with the characteristics as reported, so they signaled to stop the cars for inspection.

The subject was arrested.

One of the two cars suddenly swerved, intending to turn around and flee. The task force was forced to use a gun to shoot at the tire to control it, and brought the subjects to the headquarters of La Hien commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen province.

Upon inspection, the working group discovered a red pineapple sack on car with license plate 30E-664.62 containing 20 kg of synthetic drugs, more than 32 million VND, 1,200 USD, 3,500 yuan and 5 mobile phones.

The subjects in the two cars were identified as Dao Van Khanh (born in 1969, in Thai Nguyen), Dao Hue Huong Giang (born in 1971, in Thai Nguyen) and Mac Dinh Du (born in 1963, in Lang Son).

The working group made a record of the arrest of the offender, took statements from the subjects and handed over the people and evidence to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police to continue investigating and handling according to their authority.
