(Baonghean.vn) - The sponsorship of two orphans was undertaken by the Women's Union, the Trade Union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment under the "Godmother" program to support, care for, and nurture orphans affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and orphans in difficult circumstances launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

On the afternoon of June 19, a working delegation of the Ministry of Planning and Investment led by Ms. Le Thi Tuong Thu - Chairwoman of the Trade Union, Head of the Women's Union, Trade Union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, went to Nghe An to hold a ceremony to receive the "Godmother" and give gifts to 2 orphans. Also participating were representatives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Women's Union of Nghe An province.

This is an activity in response to the "Godmother" program to support, care for and nurture orphans affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and orphans in difficult circumstances launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

Specifically, the Women's Union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment has accepted to be "Godmothers" and support the education of two children until they turn 18 years old in Tan Ky district. Including Luu Van Dai and Luu Le Vi, in Nghia Phuc commune, Tan Ky district; both children had mothers who died from Covid-19.

In addition, the Women's Union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment also connected Ms. Chu Thi Thanh Huyen, in Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city, to take care of Dang Quoc Tuan, in Nam Kim commune, Nam Dan district, whose mother died of Covid-19.

It is known that, implementing Directive No. 05 and Conclusion No. 01 of the Politburo on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style and starting from the difficult circumstances of poor and orphaned children; over the past years, the Associations at all levels in Nghe An have had many creative activities and models towards children in difficult circumstances with many specific and practical actions with the total amount of money and materials mobilized for disadvantaged children up to now being more than 2.5 billion VND. Among them, the models "Godmother", "Assistance to adopt children" have been deployed in many districts such as Nghi Loc, Quynh Luu, Yen Thanh, Nghia Dan, Nam Dan...

Currently, implementing the "Godmother" program to support, care for, and nurture orphans affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and orphans in difficult circumstances launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union has also launched "Implementing the "Godmother" program to support, care for, and nurture orphans in Nghe An province" and "Connecting Godmothers for orphans affected by the Covid-19 epidemic" to mobilize and take advantage of socialized resources to care for children in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances in life.

Based on the province's launch, many organizations have responded actively such as the Provincial Police Women's Union, Women's Unions of Thanh Chuong, Quy Hop, Nghi Loc districts...
