The Battle of Doc Lap Hill was a battle that took place at the hill of the same name in phase 1 of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. This was the second battle of the campaign, taking place from the night of March 14 to the early morning of March 15. After the battle, the Vietnam People's Army completely controlled the hill, repelling the French counterattack, thereby almost collapsing the northern sector of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold. The delegation also came to burn incense to commemorate the heroic martyrs at A1 Hill. A1 Hill Cemetery, located a few hundred meters south of the historical site of A1 Hill (Dien Bien Phu City), was built in 1958. There are 644 graves of military officers and soldiers who heroically sacrificed their lives in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. Also on July 18, the delegation visited the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum. The museum is located on National Highway 279, Street 3, Muong Thanh Ward, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province. Construction began in October 2012 on an area of 22,000m2. This project has extremely important historical, cultural, architectural and display significance, ensuring quality and technical requirements, worthy of the victory "Resounding throughout the five continents, shaking the world". |
